I know, and I’m sorry.
You’ve been coming to Nerd Incognito, looking for your regular amusement and connection, and there has been (devastatingly) nothing. I apologize.
In my defense, I have been writing; I have simply not been writing here.
Let me explain. No, it is too much; let me sum up: after nearly a decade, I have once again picked up the boulder that is long-form fiction. I am writing my first (and second) novel. While this has, sadly, left me less time to write things for Nerd Incognito, it is something that I’ve been wanting to do since I was eight years old, and reading Beverley Cleary and Gordan Korman novels. It’s something I have burned to do, but resolved that perhaps I simply wasn’t cut out for it.
The reality is that digital books have made self-publishing not only accessible, but a potential gateway to connecting with readers all over the world. I have taken up that challenge.
My first novel, Dicing with the Gods, will go live in May. The second novel in that trilogy, Stealing from a Sorcerer, will follow in June, if all goes according to plan. I hope to complete the trilogy by October of this year. I won’t give away the plot, but the novels are sword and sorcery, mixed with some decidedly tongue-in-cheek humour. If any of you are familiar with, and enjoy, John Scalzi’s writing, you will almost certainly enjoy the exploits of Grug Smash, barbarian extraordinaire.
I will try to keep these blog updated with my journey. In the meantime, enjoy the full cover for Dicing with the Gods!
